Finnish-Japanese artist couple awarded highest honors from Japanese Government

A commendation ceremony for a Finnish-Japanese musician couple was hosted by the Ambassador of Japan at the Ambassador’s residence on the 8th of September 2016.
 
A Finnish-Japanese musician couple, Mr. Seppo Kimanen and Mrs. Yoshiko Arai were honored with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette and the Foreign Minister’s Commendation respectively.  Both Mr. Seppo Kimanen and Mrs. Yoshiko Arai have made outstanding contributions to promoting friendly relations and mutual understanding between Japan and Finland through their musical careers, which has been recognized by the Government of Japan.

The Order of the Rising Sun, the oldest Japanese honors system, is bestowed by the Emperor of Japan to foreigners who have made notable contributions to enhance bilateral relations.  The Foreign Minister's Commendations are awarded by the Japanese foreign minister to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries/areas.
