Symposium commemmorating 20th anniversary of establishment of Oulu University Japanese Studies Programme

From 15th to 16th September, the Embassy of Japan, together with the University of Oulu and the University of Hokkaido Helsinki Office organized an international symposium commemmorating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Japanese Studies Programme at the University of Oulu. The symposium was titled "Interaction, Influence and Entanglement : 100 years of Finnish–Japanese Relations and Beyond", and focused on 2019, the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Finland. Over the course of two days, over 20 academics gave presentations on various aspects of the hitherto Japanese-Finnish relations, and active discussions took place. From the Embassy of Japan, Ms. Yukiko Nakahari, Head of Cultural Affairs and Public Relations, gave a speech at the opening of the event.
