A business seminar focusing on Japan-EU EPA

On 19th of April, the Embassy of Japan in Finland, JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) and Business Finland co-hosted a business seminar “Japan Day II”, focusing on Japan-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland at Residence of Ambassador of Japan. 30 Finnish company representatives participated in the seminar.

During the seminar, benefit of Japan-related businesses in the context of Europe-East Asia relations as Japan becomes the hub of two upcoming Mega-FTAs, Japan-EU EPA and Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) 11, appealing business environment of Japan as a regional hub and practical information to connect businesses such as Rules of Origin and REX (registered exporter system) were explained. Through the seminar, focused interest in Japan-related businesses was even more developed.

Mr. Toshihiko Sakaguchi, Director General of JETRO London made a Keynote speech, Ambassador Jota Yamamoto, Mr. Jari Gustafsson, Parmanent Secretary of Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, Mr. Ville Skinnari, Head of Finnish Parliament’s Japan Friendship Group and Mr. Jukka Siukosaari, Finnish Ambassador to Japan gave remarks. In addition, Ministry for Foreign Affairs (Market Access Unit, Department of External Economic Relations) and Business Finland (Executive Director, Growth Companies) delivered presentations.
